As a doctor or clinician, you may be looking for the best possible treatment for a “tongue tied” baby. At the Laser Center for Pediatric Frenectomies, LLC, we’re here to help.
We hope to make you aware of the latest laser frenectomy procedures ; enabling your practice to assist patients in making the best decision for their baby or toddler.
Our practice specializes in:
- Pediatric laser frenectomies for Ankyloglossia (“tongue tie” and “lip ties”). We are familiar with posterior & anterior tongue tie, and double tongue tie fusion.
- Understanding the needs of nursing mothers and working with lactation consultants.
- Providing a follow-up plan so reattachment of the frenum does not occur.
We understand that not only is baby suffering from nursing difficulties, but that tongue tied babies can experience both failure to thrive issues and later dental and speech issues. We know that mom is suffering too, often from bruising, bleeding, flattened nipples, breast swelling or clogged ducts.
Our mission is to do our best, with your help, to assure your patients these problems can be solved quickly, easily, and virtually painlessly with a laser frenectomy.

Why Laser Frenectomy?
Frenectomies fell out of fashion in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s when many mother’s decided to bottle feed babies.
However, in hindsight, we now know that breast fed babies are often happier and healthier, suffering from less allergies and having a more positive bonding experience with their mothers.
Before today’s technology, a frenectomy had to be performed with scissors or a scalpel. Although not a major operation, there was still bleeding, a greater chance for infection, and usually stitching was involved. In some cases, anesthesia was necessary, compounding the risks.
Healing often took longer than with today’s advanced laser technology.
The recommendation for a laser frenectomy is an easy one to make.
- No anesthetic is necessary
- Very little bleeding and virtually no recovery time
- No stitches and minimal risk of infection
